Is healthcare becoming a business? Do you agree with this statement?
The author of the book is from a family of physicians. Her father was a doctor and set up his clinic.
The author was also working in the medical field.
What has changed, however?
It seems that in her fathers day doctors entered into medicine because they wanted to help people.
People like her father went to visit people in their homes for a small fee.
They understood that they were offering a service.
Caring for others can take up most of their time.
It seems that the author did not consider going to a doctor herself as she was too busy looking after patients.
She later found she had cancer and so was on the receiving end of treatment.
So, this is her conclusion after looking after client's and being a client herself, that healthcare is lacking true care in our times.
It is being run like a business, with high fees, people looking for status and more money with little concern for the patients.
This is not the first time I have read such claims. In fact, in another book, I read about the importance of love in health care.
Love, and sincerely wishing the patient to get better were practices of the past and older generations.
We have now developed generations that are not encouraged or taught to the love and care that they previously were.
Unfortunately, the lack of care in health care is ironic since it was once a caring profession.
However, the author addresses these issues but provides advice about how to get by and work with the current system of healthcare that we have.
She advises about the system and covers financial issues and how to afford healthcare and treatment and the different financial options.
This is a good book for people wanting to understand and get the most out of the current healthcare system.
She is of course based in America, but much of what she says could be applied to other places.
